A 22-year-old presents to the emergency department after falling onto an outstretched hand while skateboarding two days ago. They report ongoing pain on the radial side of the wrist, which worsens with gripping or lifting objects. There is mild swelling but no visible deformity. On examination, there is tenderness in the anatomical snuffbox and reduced wrist range of motion due to pain. There are no signs of neurovascular compromise. Initial scaphoid series X-rays do not reveal a fracture.
