A 24-year-old man is brought to the Emergency Department after being found on the floor by his flatmate, confused and incontinent. His flatmate reports he was shaking for 1–2 minutes and took around 20 minutes to regain awareness. This is his first generalised tonic-clonic seizure. He has no significant past medical history and is not on any regular medications. He drinks socially and occasionally uses cannabis. On examination, he is alert and oriented. There is a lateral tongue bite and no focal neurological signs. His blood glucose is 5.2 mmol/L. He is awaiting further investigations.
